Why am I having trouble setting up my Hotmail/MSN/Live email?

The preinstalled Email app in the Cruz devices cannot configure an account automatically with the Hotmail/MSN/Live mail servers. The correct email server settings are posted below for reference in setting up the account manually.


Note: Only your Inbox will be available. No custom folders or Junk folder will be available.


Email Address: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourusername@hotmail.com
Password: The password with which you usually use to sign in to Hotmail, MSN or Windows Live

POP3, IMAP, or Exchange: POP3
Username: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourusername@hotmail.com
Password: The password with which you usually use to sign in to Hotmail, MSN or Windows Live
POP3 server: pop3.live.com
Port: 995
Security type: SSL (or SSL/TSL)
Delete email from server: Never (If you delete a email in the app, it will not affect your Hotmail account.)

SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Security type: TLS (or STARTTSL)
Require sign-in: checked
Username: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourusername@hotmail.com
Password: The password with which you usually use to sign in to Hotmail, MSN or Windows Live

Note: Marking multiple emails as "Read" seems problematic in the email app. You may need to mark them as "Read" individually.
